Mr. Frank Hughes Wright, Jr., age 79

Of McEwen, TN passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, TN. He was born June 18, 1944, in McEwen, TN, and lived a life filled with compassion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference in the world.

As a small child, Frank became an integral part of the Pine Hill Church of the Nazarene. Throughout his life, he remained a faithful member of the congregation and poured his heart into serving and building up the community that he cherished so deeply.

One of Frank's greatest passions was helping construct the new church building. He dedicated countless hours to this labor of love. Beyond simply putting up walls and laying foundation stones, he took on the responsibility of being the self-appointed safety man, always looking out for the well-being of those working alongside him. Frank's devotion extended beyond bricks and mortar; he also felt called to share his knowledge and love of God's Word with others. For many years, he taught Sunday school at Pine Hill Church of the Nazarene.

The scriptures were not merely words on a page for Frank; they were treasures that he cherished in his heart. Through diligent study and prayerful meditation, he memorized verses upon verses from his beloved Bible. The depth of his understanding served as an inspiration to those around him, encouraging them to seek a deeper connection with God.

Frank dedicated an impressive 32 years of his life to working at DuPont, where he consistently demonstrated his strong work ethic and unwavering professionalism. Beyond his successful career, Frank was known for his numerous achievements outside of the workplace. One of his proudest accomplishments was the establishment of the Pumpkin Show in the 1980s. With a heartfelt desire to support the Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, Frank dedicated himself to growing eight acres of pumpkins each year for the show. The infectious joy spread throughout the community as families gathered together for a day filled with laughter, games, and pumpkin-related festivities. The Pumpkin Show became an annual tradition for 8 years that not only raised funds for an important cause but also brought people together in celebration.

Frank was an avid collector and had a lifelong passion for history. Since he was 10 years old, he nurtured a love for Indian artifacts and focused specifically on collecting arrowheads. His impressive collection grew over time and became a treasure trove of knowledge about indigenous cultures and their rich heritage. In his thirties, Frank expanded his interests and began collecting Civil War relics, further cementing his position as a true history buff.

In addition, Frank was instrumental in starting Relay for Life in Humphreys County, an event that raises funds and awareness to fight against cancer. He served as the head of the organization for an impressive 18 years, leading with passion and inspiring countless individuals to join the fight against this devastating disease. Frank's dedication and tireless efforts touched the lives of so many, leaving an indelible mark on his community. Beyond his involvement with Relay for Life, Frank extended his philanthropic spirit through his work with the United Way of Humphreys County. His impact spread even further with his idea to initiate daily meals during the Radio Auction.

While Frank will be deeply missed by all who knew him, his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched during his time on Earth. He will be remembered as a compassionate, generous, and selfless individual who dedicated himself wholeheartedly to making a positive difference in the world.
