Patsy Ann Sesler Jones 

March 20, 1939 – September 2, 2026

Patsy Jones was a girl's girl to the very end — the kind of woman who noticed a pretty dress in a store window and could tell you the best way to make a good chocolate icing. She spent sixty-six years married to Bobby Jones, and she followed him within five weeks, as if even death couldn't keep them apart for long. Between the two of them came three children, thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren, and a family that will feel the loss of both of them at once.

Patsy was born March 20, 1939, in Charlotte, Tennessee, the youngest girl and tenth of eleven children born to Joseph Muncy Sesler and Ida Mae Batson Sesler. She was raised "on the Ridge" alongside her siblings Robert, Dan, Billy, Thomas, Ruth, Ray Allen, Ralph, Russell, Peggy, and her younger brother Glen, who came along after her and grew up especially close to her. She attended Jackson Chapel School before graduating from Charlotte High School in 1958.

After graduation, Patsy moved to Panama City, Florida, to live with her sister Peggy, where she helped look after her niece and spent her days at the beach (she called dibs on the top bunk).

She was photographed on the beach one day as a young woman and woke up the next morning to find her picture in the newspaper — an early taste of the beauty and style people would notice in her for the rest of her life. There, on September 20, 1959, she married Bobby Jones, who called her "Pat" from then on. She followed him first to Fort Knox, Kentucky, and then to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, as he served his country — the first of many moves in a marriage built on following each other wherever life led. Pat and Bobby loved gospel music performances, RV camping, and dinner out with friends, and together they were devoted members of First Baptist Church of Dickson. She was the light of his life.

When Patsy smiled, it broke across her face like a sunrise, her blue eyes shining bright. She brought beauty into the world through her love of fashion and her eye for home design, and she was known for both her personal style and the home she created. She worked part-time for seasons of her life, always somewhere that let her indulge her love of fashion: Elmore's department store, Sandra Lynn's boutique, and Artley's. She had a talent for pulling a room together in her own Classic American style, loved nothing more than hunting for antiques or the perfect decorative detail, and spent many hours on her sun porch tending her flowers.

Ever the homemaker, Patsy was also an excellent cook, famous in the family for her yellow cake with chocolate icing and her chocolate peanut butter treats. Christmas lunch was the meal of the year — Patsy spent days preparing it, and she'd bake a red velvet cake months in advance and freeze it, somehow making it even better by the time the holiday came. She was happiest with her family gathered around the table, laughing, telling stories, and enjoying a good home-cooked meal. She loved babies, the beach, and time with friends, and she walked actively for most of her life. Even with a sweet tooth, she drank her coffee black, no creamer, no exceptions. She wasn't the loudest person in the room, but she loved to be with her people–her family–and she kept close friends for decades.

Patsy's last outing was a shopping trip with her daughter Patti, where she picked out a pink shirt and a sweater and remarked on how nice the sunshine was that day. It was a day of simple joys and time well spent with family.

Patsy Ann Sesler Jones died on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 87 years old — thirty-two days after her husband, Bobby. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ida Mae Sesler; her husband of sixty-six years, Bobby Howard Jones; and all ten of her siblings — Robert, Dan, Billy, Thomas, Ruth, Ray Allen, Ralph, Russell, Peggy, and Glen. She is survived by her children, Tammy Lankford (Enoch), Patti Scherer (Steve), and Derrick Jones; her thirteen grandchildren, Sara Longenecker (Michael), Ryan Scherer (Meghan), Emily Burrows (Joe), Jill Haynes (Matthew), Faith Butler (Michael), John Lankford, Mia Jones Alter (Judah), Rachel Ford (Mark), Adam Lankford (Leslie), Laura Bennett (Daniel), Geran Jones, Antonia Gerbic-Jones, and Heidi Gerbic-Jones; and twenty-four great-grandchildren: Judah, Cedar, and Isaac Longenecker; Lily, Georgia, and Hudson Burrows; Noah, Dawson, and Violet Haynes; Titus, Timothy, and Hannah Ford; Shepherd, Rosemary, and Frances Lankford; Mercy, Jethro, and Jace Bennett; Campbell, Cooper, and Cate Scherer; and Grant, Indi, and John Howard Butler.

We take some comfort in the timing, hard as it's been. Patsy didn't have to grieve Bobby for long, and we believe she's found him again — and they are with the Lord they both spent their lives walking toward.

Visitation: will be on Tuesday, September 08, 2026 from 11:00 AM – until time of service at Spann Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: will begin at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 08, 2026 from the Chapel of Spann Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Scherer and Bro. Enoch Lankford officiating.

Interment: will follow at Dickson County Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorial donations be made to Alive Hospice in Nashville.
