Shirley Ann Tucker

Shirley Ann Tucker, age 91, of Burns, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, surrounded by her family after a short illness.

Shirley was born August 21, 1935, in Charlotte, Tennessee, to Pauline and Mervin Bowker. She married John Leslie "Les" Tucker on November 12, 1955, and they shared 28 years of marriage together.

Shirley was the head cook at the Dickson County Nursing Home for 17 years. She loved to read, sew, work puzzle books, and collect angels. She had a great sense of humor, often going along with her family's antics, and would never turn someone in need away, often taking in family and friends.

She had a sense of adventure and a love for travel. For many years she traveled by bus to see her children out of state, and at the age of 70 she flew for the first time — and did it alone. She went on many trips with friends around Tennessee, rode the General Jackson showboat, and traveled to Georgia. In her early married years she enjoyed going to the Nashville Speedway, and she loved taking her grandchildren to listen to music at the Grand Ole Hatchery in downtown Dickson.

Her love and sacrifice for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was second to none, and she left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
