It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judy Sykes Jamison on November 19, 2024, at the age of 64. Judy was born on November 4, 1960, to Cliff Sykes and Gladys Patterson Sykes of Waverly. She is a 1978 graduate of Waverly Central High School.
Judy dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her two children who made up the entirety of her world. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She was her son and daughter’s biggest fan through life, including basketball. She never missed a game, she could be found high in the bleachers with the big camcorder cheering them on.
She was an amazing DIYer and in the 90’s her dream came true by opening her own shop at her home called Buttermilk Junction where you could find an array of homemade gifts. She loved making special gifts for her family which included Christmas shirts that some still have to this day.
Judy was the epitome of a friend, she had your back no matter what, loved with no limits and put others above herself always. Judy was known for her sweet smile and kind heart, if there was something that you liked of hers, she would then offer it to you… gift-giving was one of her most favorite ways of expressing her love for you.
So many people share such wonderful memories of Judy, her daughter being one of the luckiest of them all. Their shared love of Fall that led to a road trip all the way to Vermont which also included their pug Cali. The bond they shared will never be broken, not even in death.
Though Judy’s health was failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. It would be wrong to say that she lost her battle with her illness because she never stopped fighting. Even though she may be gone, her strength still lives on through everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Steve Jamison, loving son Brad Jamison, devoted daughter Jenny Ross (Adam) and her beloved pet, Molly,
Four sisters: June Williams (Moe), Dot Pratt, Gerry Sue Goins, Janice Davis (Tim). Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.
Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Jimmy Lynn Sykes, Terry Sykes and sister Margie McCullough.
A special Thank You to her caring nurses at Volunteer Home Care and DCI Waverly. We would also like to thank the amazing ICU team at Dickson TriStar Horizon Medical Center.
At Judy’s request, there will be a Graveside Service at Buchanan Cemetery (316 Buchanan Cemetery Lane) on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 12 noon.
If anyone has any stories or memories of Judy they would like to share, you are more than welcome to.
