Mrs. Evie Jean Rainey Smith, age 91

 

Of: McEwen, Tennessee, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at her home.  She was born September 13, 1932, in Egypt Hollow in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, to Claude Ulna Rainey and Callie Mai Arrington Rainey. She was a lifelong member of McEwen Church of Christ and was baptized on August 8, 1946. She graduated from McEwen High School Class of 1952.  Mrs. Smith worked at Washington Manufacturing Company in McEwen and was an Election Worker in McEwen for many years. She loved cooking for her family and church, and she was known for her chicken and dumplings. She loved gardening and canning, playing Rook, and working puzzles. Mrs. Smith could always be found at the Bloodmobile and she has donated 16 gallons of blood.

 

Visitation: will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at Humphreys County Funeral Home.

 

Funeral Service:  will be held Sunday, January 7, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at Humphreys County Funeral Home, 217 East Main Street, Waverly, TN. Bro. Jim Suddeath and Bro. Bruce Mayfield will be officiating the service.

 

Interment will follow in W. S. Smith Cemetery on White Oak Ridge Road in McEwen, TN.

Loving Caregiver:

   Sandy Ross of New Johnsonville, TN

   Rusty, Alicia, Jessica, Taylor, Tannen, Dillon, and Dallas

 

Great Grandchildren:

   Gavin, Morgan, Taylor, Dalton, Austin, Chelsea, and Bristyl

 

Great-Great Grandchild:

   Seth

Parents: Claude and Callie Rainey

Brothers: Bate Edward Rainey and Joel David Rainey

Grandson: Dakota Byrd

Nephew: James Rainey
