McEwen

Janet Elaine McJunkin Stanton, age 80 of McEwen, TN passed away January 23, 2024, after a long battle with cancer and COPD. She was predeceased by her parents, Reed L. McJunkin and Eleanor M. McJunkin. She is survived by her husband Charles Stanton, her daughters Pamela Criswell Newton, Debra Criswell David, their husbands Matthew Newton, Ari David, her grandsons Connor Newton, Jake David, her siblings Nancy Palmer, Donald McJunkin, her best friend Sandra McKnight, her eight nieces and nephews and friends. She grew up in Cortland, NY. She raised her children in Denver, CO where she was involved in Historic Denver, worked in real estate and as a caterer. She was an adventurer, loved to travel, the casinos and her daily 5pm Titos. She later lived in Vero Beach, FL and was involved with her church, First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach and then moved to McEwen, TN where she was involved with the food bank in Waverly and Waverly Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was Vice President of the JM McDonald Foundation. She was generous to her family and others.  She made everyone who knew her laugh, cry, and shake their heads in disbelief with the stories she shared. Our family is grateful that she is no longer in pain. No memorial event is planned as she did not wish to have services. Donations in the memory of Janet Stanton may be made to the American Cancer Society.
