William Chester Louis

William Chester "Bill" Louis, Jr., 85, of Dickson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026.

Born on January 21, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, Bill lived a life defined by hard work, unwavering dedication, and deep love for his family. He was a man whose character was built on integrity, perseverance, and a genuine pride in everything he did. Whether through his work, his faith, or the time he spent with those he loved most, Bill left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Bill proudly served in the United States Army from October 31, 1962 to September 22, 1965, attaining the rank of Sergeant. During his service, he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, Parachutist Badge, Expert Rifle, and Driver Badge. 

For more than 45 years, Bill owned and operated his roofing business, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. He took tremendous pride in the business he built and in the reputation he earned through honesty, quality craftsmanship, and treating others fairly. His work was more than a profession; it was a reflection of who he was. His family often said that "he was always working," a simple phrase that perfectly described his tireless dedication and unwavering sense of responsibility. Bill himself often joked, "I want to work until the day I die and then work half a day that day." Those words perfectly captured his determination, sense of purpose, and lifelong commitment to providing for his family.

A faithful member of First Methodist Church in Dickson, Bill's faith served as a guiding force throughout his life. Beyond his work, he found joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed keeping bees, loved spending time in the kitchen preparing meals for those he loved, and created one of his family's most treasured traditions; Sunday morning pancake breakfasts. Those gatherings around the table became much more than a meal; they became lasting memories filled with laughter, conversation, and the love that defined his family.

While Bill was incredibly proud of the successful roofing business he built, he would have been the first to say that his greatest accomplishments were his family. His legacy is one of unwavering devotion; to his faith, his work, and, most importantly, the people he loved. He was exceptionally proud of both the business he spent decades building and the family that brought him his greatest joy.

Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, the example he set through a lifetime of hard work, generosity, and unconditional love will continue to inspire all who knew him. His memory will live on in the family traditions he created, the values he instilled, the business he built with pride, and the countless lives he touched along the way.

Bill's family finds comfort knowing that his legacy of love, dedication, and perseverance will endure for generations to come.

Visitation will be 2:00 - 4:00 pm Saturday, August 15 at Spann Funeral Home

A Memorial Service for William Chester "Bill" Louis will be conducted at 4:00 pm Saturday, August 15, 2026, in the Spann Funeral Home Chapel;
