Timothy Paul Luther, 66, of Nashville, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 26, 1959, in Dickson, Tennessee, the fourth child of Samuel Jack Luther and Marcia Noveline (Davidson) Sensing.
From a young age, Tim showed both an entrepreneurial spirit and a calling to ministry. As a boy, he could often be found enthusiastically “preaching” atop the coffee table before heading off to school, where he quickly became known for his knack for business—selling candy and lending ice cream money, always with a return. By his teenage years, he was learning the plumbing trade alongside his father, a skill that would serve him throughout his life—from working with Luther Plumbing to owning his own business and later managing rental properties.
In November 1977, at just 18 years old, Tim married the love of his life, Barbara. Together they built a life rooted in faith and family, welcoming their first daughter, April, in October 1978, and their second daughter, Jacquelynn, in November 1980.
Faith was the cornerstone of Tim’s life. He and Barbara dedicated many years to ministry, serving together in both pastoring and evangelism. Music was another of his greatest passions. Tim sang tenor with the gospel group The Singing Jubilees, traveling and sharing his love for gospel music. For most of their marriage, he and Barbara could also be found side by side, with Tim singing as Barbara played the piano.
Tim also found great joy in the simple comforts of home, often accompanied by his beloved companions. Harley, who faithfully stayed by his side, enjoyed relaxing in the recliner and nightly treats, while Princess held a special place at the family table—often right between Tim and Barbara.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Alive Hospice for their compassionate care and support, allowing Tim’s final days to be filled with peace and presence.
