Ronnie graduated from Charlotte High School in 1966 and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Austin Peay State University in 1970. In his early years, he dedicated his spare time to serving the community by volunteering with the Dickson Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.
Following his graduation, Ronnie began what would become an extraordinary, lifelong career in transportation, starting by laying asphalt on Tennessee Highways. Over the decades, he rose through the ranks, serving as a Transportation Manager for TDOT before ultimately being promoted to Director of Program Operations in April of 2016. Ronnie served the great state of Tennessee for more than 54 years, a tenure that reflected his profound dedication to public service, which was truly both his work and his passion.
When he wasn't working, Ronnie loved to kick back, relax and watch TV & movies but above all else, he was a passionate sports fan. His love for sports, especially football, was infectious, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. He was a devoted follower of the Tennessee Volunteers, the Tennessee Titans, and the Nashville Predators. Yet, central to every aspect of his life was a steadfast devotion to his faith and family, never missing the opportunity to spend time with loved ones.
Ronnie lived a life deeply rooted in these values, always extending his time, resources, and heart to others. He was known for his quiet strength, his humble nature, and his immense generosity, traits that left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
