Nancy Byrd Jenkins

Nancy Jeanne Byrd Jenkins passed away on June 21, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 2, 1938 in Shady Grove, TN. She was a 1956 graduate of Santa Fe High School, and married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Joe Wallace Jenkins on July 29, 1956.


Nancy lived in Burns, Tennessee with her husband Joe for over fifty years. Nancy had countless hobbies and interests, but if you knew her, her favorite thing to do was cook and spend time with her family and friends. She was never shy about asking someone for a recipe, and had a huge collection in which she shared with others. She worked a variety jobs as well as being a homemaker. Her home was always open and she loved being the hostess for holidays or family reunions. She was always there with camera in hand to preserve the wonderful memories.

She was a proud member of the Dickson County Democratic Party, where she served as treasurer for many years , Teamsters organization, and the Church of Christ.


The greatest privileges of her life were being a wife to Joe, mother to Gary, David, and Cyndi, and Nana to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were her world.


Visitation: will begin on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 3 - 8 PM, and will continue on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 10:00 AM - until time of service at Spann Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: will begin at 12:00 PM on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from the Chapel of Spann Funeral Home.

Interment: will follow at Santa Fe Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nancy’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital. If you prefer, you can honor her memory by making a home cooked meal and eating it with your loved ones.

Brandi Jenkins, Amy (Nick)Jenkins, Ashley Jenkins, Cody (Kaitlyn) Jenkins, Delaney (Blake) Gentry, and Dylan (Kaylee) Jenkins, Rachel (Kris) Kentera, Brandon (Amy) Bryant.

Great-Grandchildren:

Devonte Dowdy, Queen Jenkins, Abby Jenkins, Levi Joe Jenkins, Virginia Jane Jenkins, Hunter Blake Gentry, Andrew Bryant, Kaitlyn Bryant, Bella Bryant, and coming this fall—Colton Jenkins

Along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Howard and Glenda Dunavant.
