Mary Ann (Winter) Sandler

June 23, 1934 — October 7, 2020

Mary Ann (Winter) Sandler died peacefully on October 07, 2020 in Palm Harbor, Florida. Born on June 23, 1934 to Dr. William Patrick Winter, Sr. and Thelma Louise Hooberry Winter at home in Nashville, Tennessee, she was taught that if you don’t have anything nice to say about someone, don’t say anything at all. In her 86 years on earth, she lived by that rule. Mary Ann attended Cathedral of the Incarnation School and Saint Cecelia Academy. She started her business career at an early age delivering medicines and sundries on her bike for her father’s drugstore, Winter’s Pharmacy, Later in life she worked as a buyer for Castner Knott’s department store and then alongside her husband, Melvin, as proprietors of several Nashville restaurant ventures including Papa Leone’s, The Fisherman, and Restaurant de la Renaissance. Known to many as Miss Mary Ann, Mimi, and Nana to her grandchildren, and Mary to her husband, she was always there for anyone and everyone who needed her. The first to rise and the last to rest, she was more interested in fulfilling others’ needs than her own. A visit always started and ended with a warm hug and kiss. Whether by phone or in person, if you were family, you also got a heartfelt “I love you with all my heart!” Through good times and bad, she was the anchor her family and friends could hold on to. Everyone who knew Mary Ann loved her. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Melvin J. Sandler, her parents and her sister, Catherine Delores Bardill. She is survived by her brother, William P. Winter Jr., Judith Lynn Gupton (John); children, William David Sandler, Diane Lynn Wright, and Michael J Sandler, Sr. (Kathy); nephew John A. Gupton IV; grandchildren Amelia Claire Cuevas (Jorge); Michael J. Sandler, II, Emma Caroline McKinnon; Kelly Wooten (Nick), Emily Wright, Amy Stephenson (Zack); great grandchildren, Andrew Erickson, Jr., Matthew Wooten, Jackson, Silas, and Cohen McKinnon, Emilia, Olivia, and Cristian Cuevas, and a host of beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Due to Covid-19, social distancing and masks are required at the funeral mass being held at the Cathedral of the Incarnation on Friday, October, 16, 2020 at 10:00 AM, followed by internment in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.   Survivors: Children: William David Sandler Diane Lynn Wright Michael J.
