Margaret “Betty” Southerland, 96, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, Betty’s life was a living testament to the power of family, faith, and simple joys.
Born on June 27, 1929, Betty’s greatest pride and joy were her five daughters, Jean, Norma, Mary, Janet, and Kimberly. She poured her heart into raising them, and her love for being a mother extended beyond her own children. She was a second mother to many of her nieces and nephews, always willing to open her home and her heart to those who needed her.
Betty loved the beauty of the outdoors, especially sunflowers, which seemed to mirror her warmth and strength. She enjoyed tending her vegetable garden, canning the fruits of her labor, and filling her home with the comforting smells of her home-cooked meals.
Faith was a cornerstone of Betty’s life. She was a faithful servant in her church, and her quiet strength and kindness reflected the values she held dear.
Betty’s love and legacy live on in her daughters, extended family, and all who were blessed to know her.
