Laurace Martin Street, age 92, of Charlotte, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

Born October 12, 1933, in Bells Bend near Kingston Springs, Tennessee, Laurace lived a life defined by service, patriotism, faith, and dedication to his community. From an early age, he developed a deep appreciation for Freemasonry, beginning a lifelong commitment to the fraternity that would span decades and leave a lasting impact across Middle Tennessee.

At the age of 17, Laurace answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy during the Korean War. He proudly served aboard the USS Walke and USS Juneau, enduring enemy fire during combat operations. For his honorable service, he received numerous commendations including the Korean Occupation Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Presidential Citation, and China Service Medal. During his military career, he completed two round-the-world cruises aboard separate naval vessels.

Following his service to the nation, Laurace built a remarkable life centered around hard work, family, faith, and helping others. He worked for many years with First Federal Bank of Dickson, where even into his later years he continued driving hundreds of miles weekly with unmatched dedication and determination.

Laurace was widely respected throughout the Masonic community for his extraordinary devotion and leadership. He was a Past Master of White Bluff Lodge #676, Tennessee City Lodge #548, and Charlotte Lodge #97. A Life Member in multiple lodges, his Masonic involvement also included the Scottish Rite, York Rite, Shriners, and Odd Fellows. In 2019, at the age of 85, he made Masonic history by simultaneously serving as Master of two lodges while also serving as Junior Warden of a third lodge. He was recognized as a certified proficient lecturer in all Masonic lectures and was admired as a mentor and example to countless fellow Masons.

Despite enduring tremendous health challenges throughout his life, including surviving three heart attacks, three strokes, and multiple heart procedures, Laurace never allowed adversity to define him. His perseverance, positive spirit, and determination inspired all who knew him.

Beyond his professional and Masonic accomplishments, Laurace was known throughout the community for his generous heart and servant’s spirit. For many years he faithfully portrayed Santa Claus for local churches, community events, and public gatherings, bringing joy to countless children and families without ever accepting compensation. He was a devoted member of Millers Chapel Baptist Church in Charlotte.

Laurace Street leaves behind a legacy of patriotism, faith, leadership, humility, and service that will long be remembered by his family, friends, fellow veterans, and brothers in Masonry.
