In loving memory of Jerry Calon Hilliker, who peacefully departed this world on June 15, 2026, at the age of 74, while surrounded by the compassionate care of hospice at Dickson Health and Rehab Center. Born on January 30, 1952 in Saint Albans City, Vermont, Jerry lived a life filled with adventure, kindness, and love.
Jerry was the son of Maxine Downing and Leonard Hilliker, both of whom predeceased him, along with his siblings, brother Arthur Hilliker and sister Jane H. Coward. Jerry leaves behind a legacy of love and joy, survived by his wife of 36 years, Joan, who walked beside him through their life's journey. Together, they explored much of the United States, sharing a deep bond as they worked side by side painting, roofing, and taking on carpentry projects—rarely apart from one another.
Jerry's family extended beyond blood, embracing a blended family. He was the proud father of his son, Calon Miller, and his wife, Annette. He is also survived by siblings, brother Jeffrey Hilliker and sisters Judy Wachob and Janet Burbank. Jerry also loved his step-children: Thomas McFarlin, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Timothy McFarlin and his wife Ashleigh, and step-daughter Terry Tuttle, all of whom he regarded with deep affection.
A proud veteran, Jerry honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, where he became a Military Police officer. Known for his versatile skills, Jerry often described himself as a "jack of all trades, master of none." Whether it was carpentry, roofing, painting, or being an all-around handyman, Jerry's work was always in helping customers, many of whom he befriended for life.
In his leisure, Jerry found joy in simple pleasures. He could often be found playing pool with Joan in the small bars of Tennessee, his laughter echoing through the room. His deep, resonant voice was a staple at karaoke nights, where he delighted many with his storytelling, always accompanied by his unmistakable, warm smile.
Jerry's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and resilience. His ability to connect with people, sharing stories and smiles, left a mark on everyone he met. As we celebrate Jerry's life privately, we remember a man whose heart was as vast as his talents and whose love for his family and friends was boundless.
We bid farewell to Jerry Hilliker with heavy hearts but also with gratitude for the time we shared with him.
