James Michael "Boobie" Sesler

October 2, 1952 – April 22, 2025

The Charlotte community lost one of its biggest personalities on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025, with the passing of James Michael Sesler, known and loved by everyone as Boobie.

To know Boobie was to know that his greatest joy came from his family. Watching Taelyn do just about anything was a highlight reel for him. He was Taelyn’s biggest fan, always there with a smile and a boisterous laugh.

Boobie was an outdoor kind of guy. He loved working in the dirt, being on and operating equipment, spending time at the river, camping, and pulling mules.

And let's be honest, he had a soft spot for what Shelia affectionately called "junk." To Boobie, it wasn't junk; it was treasure waiting to be discovered.

Boobie had a larger-than-life personality and a laugh that stuck with you. He had a way to make you feel like you were special. As the poet Maya Angelou wrote, "When great trees fall, rocks on distant hills shudder," and losing Boobie is going to leave a mark on his community and his family for a long time to come.

Though Boobie is no longer with us, the memories of his booming laugh, his love for his family, and his zest for life will continue to live on. He was a mighty presence, and he will be deeply missed.

Boobie was a member of the Water Street Church of Christ.

Visitation will begin on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 10AM until time of service. A memorial service will be held at 3PM at the Chapel of Spann Funeral Home with Bro. Thomas Southerland officiating.

Boobie is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Shelia Meadows Sesler. His children Jamie Hall (Jason) of Burns, TN., Mickey Sesler of Charlotte, TN, and Mika Sesler (Lee) of Charlotte, TN.

Also survived by his sisters, Sherri Thiel (Donnie) of Charlotte, TN and Tammy Ferguson (George) of Joelton, TN.

His Grandchildren: Cody Wills (Allie) and Taelyn Thompson. His great-grandchildren: Kaelyn Wills and Harper Wills. Nieces and Nephews: Steve, Misty, Stephanie, Ashley, Houston, Brantley, Courtney, and Carter and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

He is also survived by a longtime and special friend – Sammie “Jody” Gibbs and many, many treasured friends.

Boobie is preceded in death by his parents, James and Hattie Mae Sesler; his brother, Ted Sesler; his grandson, Caige Givens; and his nephew, Andy Sesler.
