Elmer Eugene Estes, 90, passed away on January 29, 2026, after a life defined by faith, hard work, and a deep devotion to his family.
Eugene was a longtime member of Dickson First Baptist Church, where his steady presence and faithful spirit were part of the church family for many years. His faith wasn’t something he just spoke about, it was something he lived, day in and day out, through quiet acts of service and a kind, humble heart.
A farmer through and through, Eugene believed in working with his hands and taking care of what the Lord had entrusted to him. He loved being outdoors, whether he was tending his garden, caring for his cows, or simply walking the land he knew so well. He never shied away from a hard day’s work and took pride in doing things the right way.
When he did slow down, Eugene enjoyed casting a line and spending peaceful hours fishing. His greatest joy in life was his family, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; though some might say the cows ranked pretty high on that list too. He adored his grandkids and great-grandkids and found endless happiness in playing with them, teaching them, and sharing stories. One family favorite that will live on for generations is the tale of the 4-H cornbread contest. With just a little “help” from Grandpa Eugene, the grandkids managed to win best cornbread, not once, but twice, making him, as the family likes to say, a two-time 4-H cornbread champion.
Eugene will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his gentle and steady nature, and the love he poured into his family. His legacy lives on in the fields he tended, the faith he carried, and the many lives he touched with his quiet strength and warm smile.
