On May 19, 1951, Edith married the love of her life, George Dotson, Jr in Cornish, Mississippi. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and hard work. Their marriage was strong and steady — built on faith, commitment, and genuine affection. Her greatest pride, though, was her daughter, Glinda. Glinda was the joy of her life — her greatest blessing and her proudest accomplishment. There was never a day she didn’t speak of her with love. She poured her heart into motherhood, and that love multiplied as her family grew.

Growing up during the Great Depression wasn’t easy, but those years built her character. She learned to work hard, to live humbly, and to never take anything for granted. She could stretch a dollar farther than anyone — walking wherever she needed to go and saving every penny. She was resourceful, independent, and proud of her ability to provide and persevere. Leading her to become a 1966 graduate of Hume Fogg School of Practical Nursing through St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville and a 1971 graduate of Columbia State Community College. Edith earned her Associate Degree in nursing. She retired as an RN for the TN Department of Corrections.

Survived by many friends, nieces, nephews and other family members, Edith will be remembered for her strong faith and resilience, her love of animals, flowers, trees, the compassion for others and the love of “old things”. She will also be remembered that she could never heed her mother’s advice to be “slow to speak, slow to wrath”.

She requested a family viewing for her immediate family to be followed by a graveside service at Hilltop Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Edith specifically stated that no flowers were to be given but donations may be given to the Salvation Army for Homeless Shelter and the Hickman County Humane Society.
