Dorothy Daniel "Dot" Hodges, age 92, of Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Born on December 14, 1933, Dot lived a life marked by kindness, compassion, and an unwavering love for her family. She devoted more than 40 years of her life to caring for others as a nursing aide at NHC, where her gentle spirit, strong work ethic, and compassionate heart touched the lives of countless patients, families, and coworkers. Even after retiring, Dot continued her life's calling by sitting with and caring for the sick, offering comfort, companionship, and a loving presence to those in need.
Dot found great joy in the simple blessings of life. She loved crocheting beautiful keepsakes, working word search puzzles, and spending peaceful afternoons putting together jigsaw puzzles. She especially enjoyed being outdoors, where she delighted in watching the deer that visited her home, tending to her flowers, and admiring the birds, especially hummingbirds, that brought her so much happiness.
Above all, Dot was devoted to her family. Family meant the world to her, and she never missed an opportunity to show her love and support. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Her greatest fulfillment came from seeing her family together, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
To know Dot was to love her. She had a warm smile, a gentle spirit, and a heart that welcomed everyone she met. She was a wonderful, loving person whose kindness, generosity, and caring nature made a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of compassion, selflessness, and unconditional love will continue to live on through her family and the many lives she touched.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the countless memories they shared and in the enduring example of a life well lived. Dot's love, faithfulness, and gentle presence will remain in the hearts of those who loved her forever.
She leaves behind a loving family and many dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
