Clarence Allen Jones, age 76, passed away on December 13, 2025, leaving behind a life defined by steady service, strong values, and a deep appreciation for the simple things that brought him joy.
Clarence proudly served for more than 37 years in the Tennessee Army National Guard, enlisting in August 1967 and retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6). Throughout his career, he served as an M1 Abrams Tank Systems Mechanic, M60A1 Tank Systems Mechanic, and Armament Repairer, roles that reflected his mechanical skill, reliability, and attention to detail. His service was recognized with numerous military decorations, including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and multiple Tennessee National Guard service and longevity awards. He was honorably discharged and transferred to the Retired Reserves following his military career.
Outside of his years in uniform, Clarence was a man who found happiness in familiar routines and hands-on work. He loved fishing, spending quiet time near the water, and took great pride in keeping his yard just right, often found mowing grass or working outdoors. He especially enjoyed tinkering in his tool shed, where there was always a project in progress, something to fix, or a tool to organize. Known for his orderly nature, Clarence had a reputation for labeling everything with his label maker — a habit that became both practical and endearing to those who knew him well. He was content in simple moments, happiest when staying busy, working with his hands, and being surrounded by family.
Clarence leaves behind a legacy of dependability, quiet strength, and love that will be carried forward by those who knew him best.
