Mrs. Alvah [Joan] Hunt Widener was born February 12, 1938, in Nashville, Tennessee, to George and Katie Clark Hunt.
She entered into peace with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 18, 2026, at the age of 88.
Today, we honor and remember a truly wonderful woman, a devoted mother, loving grandmother, and cherished great-grandmother. She was, quite simply, all you could ever ask for.
Her hands told the story of her life. With them, she created magic, majorette and cheerleading uniforms, Halloween costumes that always seemed to win the contests, and countless pieces of clothing sewn with care, patience, and love. Those same hands crafted and quilted, turning simple fabric into warmth and memories that will live on in our homes and hearts.
And oh, her baking and cooking. If only we could count the biscuits, fried pies, cookies, and home-cooked meals those hands made, each one a small act of love, shared around tables filled with laughter, stories, and togetherness. She nourished people not just with food, but with comfort, generosity, and an unwavering sense of care.
She was the definition of a homemaker and a caretaker. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome. She had a quiet strength, a giving spirit, and a way of making everyone around her feel looked after and deeply loved.
Her legacy lives on in the skills she passed down, the traditions she kept alive, and the many lives she touched simply by being who she was. We are better because of her. We are comforted by her memory and grateful beyond words for the time we were given.
Thank you Mom
Thank you Granna
Rest easy until we are together again.
