Allen Justin Batey, age 80, of Charlotte, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. Born on January 3, 1946, in Dickson County, Justin lived a life defined by hard work, quiet strength, and a deep love for the land and the outdoors.
Justin was a man who spent his life doing what he knew, and he knew how to work. He was a proud member of Operators Local 369 for 26 years, a distinction that spoke to his dedication and skill. Over the course of his career he operated heavy equipment with precision and pride, spending years as a dozer operator; helping construct the Saturn Plant in Spring Hill, TN. After retiring from the union he drove a log truck at the Curvy Road Sawmill, where his strong will and steady hands made him a trusted hand. Whether it was moving earth or timber, Justin gave everything he had to whatever job was in front of him.
Outside of work, Justin was most at home in the outdoors. He raised his rabbit dogs with real care and took pride in every one of them, then turned them loose and let them run. There was nothing he loved more than a good rabbit hunt.
Allen Justin Batey will be remembered as a man who showed up, worked hard, and loved the life he built. He leaves behind a family who carries his grit and his heart, and a legacy rooted in honest labor and the wide open Tennessee outdoors.
