Donald Lee Paddock died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on July 19, 2022. Don was born to Freeman Carrol Paddock and Audrey Schoffstall Paddock on July 12, 1935, in Martin Township, Crawford County, IL. His family moved to Waverly, TN, in 1950, where Don attended Waverly Central High School. He played quarterback on the football team and made some lifelong friends during his time there. After graduating in 1953, he served three years in the US Army, which included overseas duty in Korea. After being honorably discharged, Don attended Draughn’s Business College in Nashville, TN, for a year. He then used the welding skills he acquired in the Army to become an Iron Worker. In the early 60’s, he was working as an Iron Worker on Titan II missile silos near Conway, AR, where he met and married Betty Ann Horton. Don and Betty spent the first couple of years of their marriage living in Denver, CO, where first son Mark was born. Don moved his family to Waverly, TN, in January 1965 and went to work for Consolidated Aluminum Company. In 1966, Don and Betty bought their home in New Johnsonville, TN, and added Cindy, Wade, and Christy to the family over the next few years. Don went to work for E.I. DuPont in 1973, where he worked as a maintenance mechanic until his retirement in 1997. Don loved God, his family, and friends. He enjoyed building things, cooking, gardening, fishing, boating, sports (especially football), and traveling with Betty. They made wonderful friends on cruises and visits to Greece, Spain, Italy, France, Australia, New Zealand, French Polynesia, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Alaska, Bora Bora, Mexico, and many more beautiful places in the US and abroad. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and Freeman Paddock, sisters Juanita (Nita) Butler and Dot Parker Fowlkes, and brother Robert Keith (Bob) Paddock.
